About Me

Anne Johnson M.Ed.

You’re here because you love your kid and you want to get this right.

Maybe you’ve been watching the college conversation unfold — at school, in your social feeds, in your neighborhood — and something about the pressure, the noise, the obsession with rankings just doesn’t sit right for your family. Or maybe your student has an IEP, a 504, a therapist, an anxiety diagnosis and you're wondering: “What does the college admissions process look like for them?”

Hi, I’m Anne, the founder of EdPath Coaching and Consulting, and a calm, honest guide for families navigating one of the most stressful seasons of a teenager’s life.

I’ve spent the past 15 years working with high school students — first as a school counselor, and now as an independent educational consultant specializing in students who are anxious, neurodiverse, or managing mental health challenges.

These are the students I love working with most. And their families are exactly why I built EdPath Coach.

My years inside high schools gave me something many educational consultants don’t have: a real understanding of how the system works and where it falls short. I know how counselor-to-student ratios make individualized attention nearly impossible. I know how students with complex needs can get lost even in schools that are genuinely trying. I know the gap between what families are told and what they actually need to know.

That’s why I built EdPath to work differently: fewer clients, more depth, and a process designed around your student’s actual life and not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

My specialty is students with learning differences, ADHD, anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns that shape how they learn and experience the world.

I hold certifications in Youth Mental Health First Aid, QPR (suicide prevention), and ASIST. I’m trained in Motivational Interviewing and Strengths-Based Counseling. I collaborate, with your permission, with therapists, ADHD coaches, and learning specialists to ensure every part of your student’s support system works together.

I’ve visited more than 80 college campuses. I know when the disability services office is truly exceptional and when it’s just a checkbox. I know which environments allow students like yours to thrive. And I will help you tell the difference.

Working with me is not a transaction. It’s a relationship built on honest conversation, a clear roadmap, and consistent support from start to finish. I’m the calm voice when things feel frantic. The steady guide when the options feel overwhelming. The advocate who keeps your student’s well-being at the center of every single decision.

I actively push back on the idea that a more selective school is a better school. I am not here to package your student for admissions committees. I am here to help them find the place where they will genuinely flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

When I’m not working with families, you’ll find me outside hiking in national and state parks, baking, reading books, or spending time with my two kids.
